HISPANIC OUTREACH/SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPAIGN
Campaña Publicitaria y de Información para la Comunidad Latina

English / EspañolChildren

The Institute has been engaged by the New Jersey Department of Human Services to create andexecute an outreach campaign seeking to provide accurate information toparents and Latino families about early childhood development.

The educational outreach campaign currently being conductedhas,as its primary objective, the increased awareness of Hispanic families about developmental delays (physical, cognitive and/or behavioral) which may occur in their children, and the fosteringof the healthy development of all Hispanic children in New Jersey. It also provides information and tools to recognize potential learning disabilities, as well as medical conditions which may affect the child. The campaign not only target parents, but all family members, to ensure that the general public gains awareness of these developmental issues and are armed with the necessary information to assist their own children or other family members.

The following service goals and objectives will be met during the twelve month operation of this program:

  • A minimum of one thousand five hundred (1,500) will participate in one educational forum which outlines Special Needs and other potential developmental issues, within the twelve month timeframe of project operations;
  • Of those families and parents participating, eighty percent (80%) will report an increase in their awareness of potential developmental challenges and other Special Needs, and will report a willingness to use the information to assist their families and others.

The theme of the campaign is íEntérate!, and includes the utilization of media outlets including print, radio and TV. Please see below to access our Spanish language radio and TV spots.

The campaign has made available a tool free telephone number for parents and families members who may have questions, or need additional information about services available.
The toll free number is (877) 528-4676.
